STANDARD LANGUAGE PROGRAMS |

The Standard Language programs cover Spanish for everyday use. They emphasize oral proficiency and provide a solid foundation of the language. Participants may choose from two possibilities:
1) Classes Monday through Friday or 2) Classes Monday through Thursday. This option allows students longer weekends for travel, leisure, etc.
Homestays are included in costs (see below). |

These are the costs per additional week after any of the 1, 2, 3 or 4 week programs listed above. For example, a student coming for 8 weeks will be charged for the last 4 weeks at the additional week rate. Depending on his/her level, the student is welcome to stay for up to six months. |

Four 50 minute group lessons or six 50 minute lessons daily (Mon.-Fri. or Mon.- Thurs.), textbooks and handouts. Room and partial board—breakfast and dinner—and laundry service in the home of a carefully selected local family are included and will be arranged unless otherwise specified. If the student chooses not to participate in the homestay, he/she should deduct $160 per week. The Excursions program includes several visits to many of the sites and natural treasures that make Costa Rica unique (see our Excursions section for details and itinerary). Free daily Latin dance classes (Mon.- Thurs.), Internet access in our Internet room –WiFi connection also available–and complimentary Costa Rican coffee throughout the day are available. |

| Starting dates for 2013: |

January 7, February 4, March 4, April 1, May 6, June 3, July 1, August 5, September 2, October 7, November 4 and december 2. Students who are not able to start on these dates--and who are not beginners--may join the institute only the second or third Monday after the indicated starting dates. Classes are set up on a weekly basis, Monday through Friday. Students starting later than Monday will be missing classes that cannot be made up. |

| Schedules: |

Depending on the type of program, the total number of participants, etc., students are scheduled to attend classes in the morning or afternoon. Morning classes start at 8:00 a.m. Afternoon classes start at 1:15 p.m. Students are required to attend classes at the times indicated by the Institute. |

| Holidays: |
| |
The Institute observes a number of holidays during the year and will be closed on those days. No refunds are made for days missed due to this reason. Excursions are not affected and always take place. Holidays are: January 1, Holy Thursday and Good Friday, April 11, May 1, July 25, August 15, September 15, October 12 and December 25. |
